The plot consists of two parallel storylines, which switches between up and down. One tells the story of Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) in the years 1958 and 1959. This chronological narrative builds to the first part, and was written for the continuation of the film by Francis Ford Coppola and Mario Puzo.
The second theme is about hindsight, the early life of Michael’s father, Vito Corleone. This time, not played by Marlon Brando, but highly praised by the Robert De Niro. After Brando already won an Oscar for the presentation of the Vito Corleone had succeeded so well as De Niro. This is the first and only previous time two actors for the same role with an Oscar was awarded. A review of Vito’s early childhood and the rise in New York, Is largely taken from the novel by Mario Puzo, who is also two years earlier as a template for the first part of The Godfather had served.
