Criticism [Event] :
‘Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky is an aerial film. Plans sequences suspended and gliding camera dolly discreetly Kounen filming the passion of the two designers in the early twentieth century high. So high that it seems to forget the depth of the characters and flesh in favor of cinégénie the fate of two icons. No criticism can indeed be done on sets and costumes: the villa at Garches miss Chanel and her wardrobe in black and white are blended carefully. But amidst all these cosmetics, physical and spiritual alchemy of Coco and Igor seems to be only a pretext for the accumulation of beautiful images. Aesthetically appealing but good contrast with the usual bold achievements Kounen. Yet his choice of actors is a success. A true find of the film, Elena Morozova plays with precision and intensity of Stravinsky’s sick wife who will condone his infidelities, love for man – played while held by Mads Mikkelsen – and his art. Far from moving this sobriety, Anna Mouglalis embodies his voice hoarse and his look so mannered a snob Gabrielle Chanel, often irritating, but is still the invincible face of the brand. The film finally Kounen of little interest except of that tell the story of Coco Chanel and after recall, a few notes, the intensity of the work of Igor Stravinsky.
