A writer of science fiction novels are what the U.S. government knows few years: the crust will be destroyed because of huge solar explosions, which is foretold by the Mayan calendar, which believe that the world will end in 2012. For the writer and his family begin a life or death race to reach one of the vessels built by the government, the only chance of survival in a world colapsului.
Curtis Jackson is a divorced father, whose ex-wife who moved with their two children with her new boyfriend. Employed as a limo driver, but aspired to a career as a writer, he takes children on a weekend for a mini trip to Yellowstone National Park. Here the three discover that several sections of the park are closed by the army and government scientists.
After she meets Charlie, a radio employee who believes that all these signs point to a major disaster that will end the world, Jackson became suspicious. Earth begins to have disturbing cracks in the Los Angeles area, and natural disasters should be progressing faster than anyone anticipated. Jackson returns to LA to save his former wife and her lover, before Los Angeles to sink into the Pacific Ocean.
While millions of people worldwide die because of earthquakes that no longer seemed to stop, and Jackson returned to Yellowstone Park, where we seek and we find Charlie, the guy who told him that the end is about to learn more answers. Prophecy which said the world will end on December 21, 2012, the date marking the end of the Mayan calendar ultimately proves to be true, and Jackson tries everything possible to save his family and to ensure that humanity will not be completely removed from the face of the earth.
